Many thanks to Ms. Gail Slaughter, SALEM CITY Clean Communities Coordinator, and Ms. Sherry Washington, SALEM COUNTY Clean Communities Coordinator (and SCIA’s Scale Master) for coordinating a city-wide clean up event that was held on May 24, 2025.
Ms. Slaughter and Ms. Washington put the call out for volunteers who gathered on E. Broadway, Salem, and spread out throughout the city. Some tackled the mowing and cleanup of overgrown lots; others cleaned up large illegal dumping spots; and several others who walked the neighborhoods removing litter and trash. The weather was perfect, and the teams were motivated—removing 13.43 tons of debris from city streets and neighborhoods. That is great work by all.
We thank Gail and Sherry (and their volunteers) for their continued effort to improve the quality of life in Salem City. Special thanks too, to the extended Carney Family (Brian, Nelson, and Stacy) for their participation.
